Policy for Instructor Adoptions and
Site Licensing CyberRat for Laboratory-based use
There are two packages that include CyberRat. One is CyberRat by itself, which includes all fundamental operant conditioning schedules (including required magazine training for teaching classical conditioning procedures) plus the Multi-Behavioral Analysis coding trainer and analysis system. The second package adds to this a set of 40 separate topics presented as adaptive instructional tutorials on Learning and Conditioning Principles (English only) along with 8 chapter-level adaptively constructed mastery certification tests that are all administered on-line via the internet. NONE of these products require (or even allow) on-site server installation. Instead, the CyberRat and Adaptive Tutorials software resides on individual client/laboratory computers and this software accesses our company servers for content, assignment hand-ins and course administration purposes.
Thus CyberRat or Tutorials require a student-specific login ID that allows instructors to track individual student assignment and testing progress as it is transmitted to CyberRat servers upon each experimental session's termination. Tracking assignments or test results is accomplished by having individual students register their unique CyberRat Proof-of-Purchase (License) number PLUS their student ID at www.cyberrat.biz, where they then select the specific University / Instructor / Course / Section where they are seeking academic credit. This specific student ID registration allows instructors to manage and/or monitor the work of each student in individual classes and sections independently of one another via the Instructorís Administration software system (free to adopting instructors).
Normal distribution of CyberRat is through Instructor Adoption requiring students to purchase individually (either on-line or through University bookstore). Price is $20 for CyberRat or $40 for CyberRat with Learning Tutorials if purchased directly from (AI)2, Inc. The adopting instructor then notifies us EACH SEMESTER of the appropriate course registration information to allow registration setups to be accomplished prior to that semester's use by students.
For non-US adoptees and Laboratory licenses, we sell by electronic distribution of the CyberRat software system by sending a (free of charges) master CyberRat CD to the adopting instructor. Students or departments may then make payments in most non-US currencies through our PayPal links for the equivalent of $20-US to receive a single e-mailed license number for registering as a student using CyberRat. Thus there is no real "site-licensing" but rather a purchase by or for each student must be made. Students who make such a purchase must then make a copy onto their own computers (direct transfer or CD-R) from the CyberRat master CD held by the instructor. We do not limit how many copies of CyberRat software are made on how many computers. Instead, the student's LogIn ID registered at the time of serial number registration limits server access only to that ID, regardless of what computer is used for login. Whether purchased by schools/labs or students, one license number may be used only by one student, and numbers must be renewed annually if purchased by a licensed institution. The number of assignable license (Proof of Purchase) numbers purchased allows students to register for one or more specified courses at a single school, but the student still must use an individual student ID for login purposes to separate individual assignments that are accessed by instructors through free course management software.
